One evening I was praying for a teen I had met in a Khan Academy Discord server. He was having a panic attack due to abuse and the loss of friend who had committed suicide. I talked to him for several hours and have prayed for him for several years. He is understandably antagonistic toward God, confusing the actions of the adults in his life with the actions of God. He is a hard-headed rascal, but he's also brilliant, compassionate, and creative. I love him and pray for him. This song was written for the multitude of kids out there that should have been loved and valued by their own parents - because they are loveable, amazing and talented.

AM        E7           AM
I saw you looking back at me

Dm                    C                          Am
A thousand miles and window glass. . . window glass between

E7                           Am
I felt a tear slide down our cheek

E7                               Am
The pain each time our faint heart beats

E7                          Am
And I want you to know that you are not alone

E7                              Am
When I pray to God tonight I’ll ask for the strength to fight

  E7    Am
For you once more.

                Dm           C    Am
And I’ll say, “thank you for this life”

           Dm        C        Am
I’ll say, “thank you for this fight”

            Dm         C      Am
I’ll say, “thank you, Jesus Christ,”

E7                   Am
When I pray for you tonight.
