These are perfect tea time cookies!
- *Beat sugar and butter until smooth. Add the egg, vanilla, cardamom, nutmeg and salt. Stir in flour.
- *Make 1.5 inch thick balls of dough by rolling between your palms. Place in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Chill for a half hour while preheating oven to 350 degrees F.
- *Roll one side of each ball in coarse raw sugar. Flatten each ball slightly between palms and place on ungreased baking sheets.
- *Bake for 10 - 12 minutes until very lightly golden in color. Cool on pan for five minutes and then transfer to a smooth surface to finish cooling. Stores well in an airtight container.
