Progression of Art Study
If the student will observe nature in his drawings then he will be successful as an artist. There are many that love to draw but apparently have no talent; you will see this in boys who do not finish their drawings with shading [having failed to notice the light and shadow on the subject they are drawing.]
The aspiring artist should first:
Learn perspective.
Then study the proportions of objects.
Next he may copy the work of a great artist to understand the use of the above.
Then observe from nature, to confirm by practice the rules he has learned.
See for a time the works of various masters.
Then get the habit of putting his art into practice and work.
